On the 4th Sunday of every month, there is an opportunity to help out at a Soup Kitchen nearby. St. Bartholomew the Apostle partners with St. Mary's of Plainfield by staffing their soup kitchen on the 4th Sunday of every month. No experience is necessary to help out. This ministry is open to teens and adults alike.
St. Mary’s Dinner Program was established in 1996 to meet the growing needs of the homeless and less fortunate in the Plainfield area. The program provides a nutritious, well-balanced meal for up to 130 guests between 3 and 4 pm every Sunday of the year. The program is made possible through generous food and monetary donations made by caring members of the community. It operates at the hands of dedicated volunteers from local congregations. Young people ages 12 and over seeking community service hours are welcome to volunteer accompanied by an adult.
There are parish coordinators who oversee our volunteer efforts for each Sunday of the month. St. Bartholomew's hosts the Dinner Program on the 4th Sunday of each month.
